Returning
In the rainforest of the Pacific Northwest, the dead and dying trees grow luscious ferns and mosses, and even new trees. We witness regrowth and rebirth through the beautiful process of disintegration. This sculptural series entitled RETURNING contains three pieces each with its own narrative. The head, where we remember our return to the earth, where we experience beauty and where we acquire knowledge to create art. Artists give away the art they create, destroying their hands while growing creativity in others. Dancers ruin and cripple their feet to teach the audience the beauty of movement. It is a poetic destruction enhanced by the color of the traditional patina that bleeds into the glass, giving the pieces a mysterious, ethereal feel.
Thus my artistic purpose; to honor life, emotions, and experiences in a way that will invoke thought and grace
